Breckenridge, Colorado – March 2018

So around November of each year we start planning out annual Spring cabin trip out to Oklahoma. But this time we were throwing ideas out about maybe changing the scenery. So we settled for beautiful Breckenridge, Colorado!!!

We wanted a cabin right in the mountains so we found most were just outside of Breck. We’re talking a 10-15 mins drive. So technically we stayed in Blue River but our days were spent in Breck. We had never been skiing or anything so we had to buy all our gear which come to find out, it’s not that expensive if you shop on Amazon.

Colorado here we come!

So with our usual cabin posse we were on our way to Colorado. We flew into Denver and actually hung out there for a while.

Our first stop was Denver Biscuit Company. Everything on the menu sounded delicious and well it really was. They had everything from strawberry shortcake biscuits to a biscuit with fried chicken with chipotle ranch sauce. It was all great. Oh and they have bottomless coffee (for a fee of course). Cool fun part, you get to pick your coffee mug from the wall of coffee mugs they have. Of course I picked the pink one for him!

With our bellies full of biscuits, we headed to Coors Field to check it out. Must say it’s a pretty cool stadium. Of course I had to get my baseball for the collection! Too bad we couldn’t catch a game. But hey you always have to leave something pending so you’ll have a reason to go back, right?

After Coors Field we headed off to ex-Mile High stadium. I say ex-Mile High cause I’m really not liking the new name. Ha! Anyways, that’s an impressive stadium. We didn’t go inside but even just the grounds were super nice.

Finally headed to our cabin! The scenery on the drive was amazing. Those mountains lining up in the background is something you just have to soak in. We finally got to our cabin, after traveling a small road lined with about 6 feet of snow on each side, and it was really nice. So we settled in, had dinner, and called it a night since we had to get up to go snowmobiling in the morning!

Snowmobiling day! We geared up and were on our way to Good Times Adventures. I have to say it was a great experience. We went all the way atop and were right in the Continental Divide. The view up there was just amazing! Can we go back already.

We then tried to find an outdoor skating rink but unfortunately the weather was too warm for it to be safe. So headed back to the cabin for dinner and played catchphrase. You should get that game, lots of fun!

Next day…

We opted out of the skiing due to not feeling all too well cause of the altitude. You definitely have to prep for that if you’ve never been. Drink lots of water days before. It kicked our butts. It’s so hard to breath. But the part of the crew that was good went on to ski. They did have an important pointer when they came back. If you buy a ski lift and end up not using it, they will return your money (at least at this lift, so just check). We’ll have to try the skiing next time.

We headed to downtown Breck and checked out The O2 Lounge an oxygen bar were you pay for oxygen, YES you heard that right you pay for OXYGEN!! We needed some help feeling better. It really did help.

After leaving O2 we wandered around town for a while and spotted Crepes A La Cart. The line was forever long but it was all worth it. The German Cholocate Cake one was the best.

The Last night we just chilled at the cabin. We spent the rest of the evening sliding down the hill in the back of the cabin. Being kids again was so much fun! And it was snowing! Perfect way to close out the weekend.

And we’re off…

Unfortunately, we had to head out. But before heading to the airport we had to make one last stop at The Garden of the Gods. That place was so cool! The gigantic rocks and the colors were gorgeous! Definitely a must see it’s only about an hour away from Denver. Don’t forget to check out the Kissing Camels.

We had been hearing the weather was pretty bad and were getting a little worried about our flights. Well sure enough we had to re-route at way later times and didn’t get back home till the next day. But even that didn’t spoil this trip. It was all great. We love spending time with friends and family!
