Kung Fu Noodles – San Antonio, TX

It’s cold and rainy day here in San Antonio and I was craving some warm comfort food. I headed to Kung Fu Noodles a small Chinese joint here in San Antonio were they are known for their homemade hand pulled noodles, dumplings, and steamed buns.

Kung Fu Noodle is located in the back of a shopping center and does not look too flashy from the outside, but once you walk in it has a pretty dope vibe. They recently expanded the restaurant, but the newer side does not have the same authentic feel that I would imagine authentic to be; nonetheless, it is a cozy little spot.

The menu is simple and from my understanding they expanded it to include more Americanized Chinese options. However, the noodles, dumplings, and steamed buns seemed to be the go to options here.

We ordered the noodle soup with lamb, pork and chive dumpling, and the noodles topped with sautéed shredded pork and green pepper. We tried to order the noodles topped with braised beef and potatoes, but they ran out of potatoes by the time we go there.

Pork and Chive Dumpling:
The steamed pork and chive dumplings were about $7 and it was HUGE!! The plate comes with about 20 dumplings. They were a bit salty, but still pretty good.

Noodle Soup with Lamb ($7.95):
I ordered the noodle soup with lamb with a level three spiciness. I feel I could have gone to a four, but if you’re not into spicy food a level two probably would be enough. The broth was rich and savory and the homemade noodles were fresh and delicious. I got the thin noodles, but they also offer a wider and thicker version. You get a big serving of food for the price. I can eat a lot and I had to take half of the soup home.

Noodles Topped with Sautéed Shredded Pork and Green Pepper ($7.50):
We also got the thin noodles on this one and they were two for two. The noodles were made fresh in house and the sauce had a good contrast of a bit sweet and salty which made it great. The pork was tender and was perfectly seasoned.

Overall the food is great and the price is even better for the amount of food you get.
